HDI Announces Acquisition of River City Millwork

As part of its continued strategic growth objectives for 2020, Hardwoods Distribution Inc. (“HDI” or the “Company”) announced today that it has, through its subsidiary Rugby Architectural Building Products (“Rugby”), purchased River City Millwork.

River City Millwork operates in Rockford, IL and will continue to conduct business under the River City Millwork brand at its current location, as part of the Rugby Architectural Building Products division of HDI.

Within Rugby, the new acquisition will operate as part of the Rugby Midwest Region with oversight by Midwest Regional Manager, Rod Beason. Mr. Beason says “we are pleased to welcome River City General Manager Tim Zumbro and his entire team to Rugby. This highly complementary acquisition adds resources and expands capabilities that will be synergetic across our network of door and millwork locations. We anticipate a very smooth integration that is further aligned by both companies operating on the same Agility ERP software.”

This is a strategic expansion of Rugby’s growing door and related millwork business. Rugby purchased the four locations of Pacific Mutual Door Company in 2019, adding a highly profitable business model and expanding its existing presence in the mid-west. Rugby first entered the door and millwork market in 2012, with sales now approximately $160 million annually at the following 11 locations: Albuquerque, NM; Boise, ID; Portland, OR; Kansas City, KS; Nashville, TN; Lenexa, KS; Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and now Rockford, IL.

Rugby Expands Distribution Operations in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas

Dallas, TX – December 3, 2019 – As a result of ongoing growth and its commitment to continuously improving the customer experience, Rugby Architectural Building Products is pleased to announce the opening of a new distribution facility in Grand Prairie, Texas. On January 2, 2020 the newly consolidated Dallas and Fort Worth distribution will begin operations at its new facilities strategically located at 920 Avenue R.

The 125,000-square-foot distribution facility is being configured to accommodate Rugby’s increasing volumes, the diverse product assortment and evolving customer base. One of the most notable improvements and areas of specialization is the creation of a 33,000-square-foot will-call facility set within the expansive warehouse. This area is set-up to provide will call customers with an expedited shopping, buying and procurement experience. Specially trained Rugby will-call staff will assist customers with product selection, technical knowledge, and order processing.

The Rugby full-service distribution facility stocks a wide variety of architectural interior building products including decorative surfaces, hardware, lumber, veneers, moulding, sheet goods, Wilsonart laminates, Wilsonart adhesives, Staron solid surface, high gloss panels and more; providing a one stop shop for everything customers need to make residential cabinets or commercial casework.

Rugby Acquires Albuquerque Hardwood Lumber Company

Concord, NH – May 26, 2016 - Rugby Architectural Building Products announces the acquisition of Albuquerque Hardwood Lumber Company, Albuquerque, NM.

Rugby Acquires Meyer Decorative Surfaces

Concord, NH – December 18, 2014 - Rugby Architectural Building Products announces its agreement to purchase Meyer Decorative Surfaces, Inc., Atlanta, GA, from Saint-Gobain.

Rugby and Meyer’s Atlanta operations will be consolidated. The transaction is expected to be completed on 12-31-2014.

Rugby Architectural Building Products announces acquisition of Larson Distributing Co., Denver, CO.

Concord, NH, April 25, 2014 - Rugby Architectural Building Products announces the acquisition of Larson Distributing Co., Denver, CO. Founded in 1922, Larson is a distributor of decorative surfacing, cabinet hardware and related products. As part of Rugby, the product lines will be expanded to include architectural wood products, consistent with Rugby’s strategy in all markets. Mike Rook, a veteran of the Denver market, has been appointed General Manager of the Denver operation.
